What's the best time to arrive?

Day parking lots opens at 11:00am* on festival days. Fairgrounds gates open at 12:00pm (noon)*. Arrive early to allow for possible traffic and security search at the entrance. Please try and carpool. *All times are subject to change.

Will you be posting set times in advance?

Yes. Set times will be posted on our website a few months before the festival and also be in the festival guide available at the venue.

How hot will it get in the day and how cold will it get at night?

With an average year round temperature of around 64 degrees fahrenheit (unofficially), the Monterey Peninsula stays relatively mild weather-wise. But it does get chilly at night, so bring a blanket! CLICK HERE for the Monterey Peninsula 10-day weather forecast information.

Yes! We will let you know when our volunteer application is available. Until then, please subscribe to our email list so you will be the first to hear when the application goes live.

Can I bring a chair or blanket inside the festival?

Blankets, YES! Chairs, NO! (Hint: we will provide the chairs!)

Can I use tickets/pictures/the Monterey Cowboy Festival name to promote my website/product/event?

No. The Monterey Cowboy Festival trademarks, intellectual property, passes and wristbands may NOT be used for advertising, promotions, contests, sweepstakes, or any commercial purpose. The only exception is for the festival’s official sponsors (and even they need formal written authorization from the festival’s producers).

Are credit cards accepeted?

In 2018, we’re accepting credit cards at our box office and all festival bar locations. *3rd party food and drink vendors may require cash only.

Do you accept cash and debit?

Yes, all vendors accept cash and most accept credit and debit. We also have ATMs on the fairgrounds property.

Will there be flushable toilets and sinks available?

Absolutely... you can thank us in advance!


Can I bring an umbrella or parasol?

Sorry no umbrellas, those block the view of other festival goers. You wouldn’t want someone with an umbrella blocking your view either right?
You can bring a small parasol as long as your courteous to other festival goers.
(For those of you who don't know what a parasol is... a parasol is to block the sun and an umbrella is to protect from rain)

I have health problems and am not able to eat food, will I be able to bring in my supplement drinks in?

Medical related / required items (small individual portions of specialized food that is otherwise not available in the venue included) may be brought into the venue provided a doctor's note is onsite and available at the entrance gate describing the necessity for the item(s).

How big is a medium backpack? / How will this be enforced?

A medium backpack should be no bigger than 20″ tall, 15″ wide and 9″ thick packed. Bags will have to fit into a box of that size similar to the system used at airports. If your bag doesn’t fit in the box it won’t be able to go inside the venue.

What are considered professional cameras and professional digital cameras?

Any camera with a removable/detachable lens.

Can I bring e-cigs?

Single use Mini’s (aka cig-a-likes) are OK. Mid sized e-cigs & vape pens are OK, however NO liquid refills will be allowed into the venue. APV’s or Mods are NOT allowed in the venue. As a general rule, if you are not clear on what kind you have, it’s not allowed.
